Xanthan gum, also known as raw Chinese gum, xanthomonas polysaccharide, is a monosporal polysaccharide produced by Pseudoxanthomonas fermentation. Because of its special macromolecular structure and colloidal properties, it has a variety of functions, and can be used as emulsifier, stabilizer, gel thickener, sizing agent, film forming agent, etc., and is widely used in various fields of the national economy. Xanthan gum is known as "industrial monosodium glutamate" and is currently a microbial polysaccharide with a large production scale and extremely wide applications in the world.

Application

 

Xanthan gum is used for filtration control in all types of water base drilling fluids ranging from fresh to salt saturated waters. It also has shale inhibitive characteristics. It meets or exceeds API 13A specifications. Its thermal stability is up to 150ºC. 

 

Used as thickener and suspending agent in drilling fluids, fracturing and oil-displacing agent. It has obvious effects on speeding up drilling, preventing well collapse, protecting oil and gas reservoirs, substantially increasing oil recovery rates, and preventing well blowouts, etc.

 Oil Drilling Grade Xanthan Gum is high efficiency and environmentally friendly mud additives. As an important drilling polymer, oil drilling grade xanthan gum is widely used in oilfield service industries including fracturing, pipeline cleaning, work-over and completion operation etc.
